Many modern keycard lockset systems come equipped with energy-saving features. When a guest enters their room and inserts the keycard into the slot, it activates the room's lighting, HVAC systems, and electrical outlets. Conversely, when the guest leaves and removes the keycard, these systems are automatically deactivated. This "smart" functionality contributes to energy conservation and aligns with sustainable practices.
Compared to traditional lock-and-key systems, electronic keycard locksets require less maintenance. Mechanical keys can wear out, necessitating frequent replacements, while electronic keycards are generally durable and longer-lasting. This results in reduced maintenance costs for the hotel over time.
